About This Spot

Step inside Teppanyaki Bar IKURA Tenjin Imaizumi Branch and you’re greeted by an inviting, warmly lit space perched on the second floor, offering a quietly intimate escape from the busy streets of Fukuoka. This izakaya restaurant moves at a thoughtful, unhurried pace where the comforting sounds of sizzling iron griddles set the tone — a subtle rhythm that draws you into the heart of the dining experience.

The atmosphere strikes a balance between casual and attentive, with a youthful, friendly staff who make sure you feel both welcomed and well looked after, no matter where you’re from. The glowing griddle isn’t just a cooking surface here; it’s a stage where every turn, flip, and sear invites a moment of shared anticipation. Watching your food come to life — whether it’s the delicate layering of an okonomiyaki or the gentle browning of a hamburger omelette — feels both personal and engaging.

This isn’t a place where the menu is rushed or the flavors blandly listed — each dish carries a story of familiar warmth, whether it’s the satisfying embrace of an ikura-topped fried rice or the crisp, subtly smoky texture of teppanyaki-style grilled onigiri. Drinks hover between playful and classic, complementing the dishes without ever overshadowing them, making it easy to linger over conversation or quiet reflection.

The space encourages discovery, especially for visitors who might appreciate the helpful touches like English menus and staff eager to bridge language gaps with genuine care. While the lunch hours provide a rare chance to savor their celebrated omelette rice, evenings at IKURA unveil a different kind of charm through shared plates and carefully crafted drinks — inviting you to slow down and savor the many small joys of a well-crafted meal in good company.

You can easily make a reservation via Google maps if you are afraid of the crowds and waiting for a table. The restaurant is on the second floor instead so don't make the same silly mistake which I did by queuing outside the sushi restaurant on the first floor. The shop is famous for their omu rice which is only available for lunch, but for dinner, you can get the okonomiyaki as well as various other sides. Their okonomiyaki is really quite different from others I have tried - not so much vegetables, but very whipped egg whites or something. Still really delicious. You might not be able to order the omu rice for dinner but you can order the different types of rolled omelette which are really good. I also tried the oyster mushroom as well as the potato croquette which are very good too. There is a cover charge of 440 yen per pax, and they provide you with a free appetiser in exchange. There are English and Korean menus so not to worry if you cannot speak Japanese. In fact, the food is so good, I went back for two consecutive nights just to try the other dishes on the menu. Would totally recommend you grab your dinner here if you are staying nearby.

Such a great place to watch your food being cooked. Love the Hamburger omelette with Demi glaze. The patty was so soft and juicy.

Lovely little bar with a good atmosphere! The staff are very friendly and an English menu is available which was helpful. They have a service charge but provide a small appetizer in return and they do require one drink order per person. They made sure I understood this before I ordered and it is written on the menus as well, it is very transparent. The food is lovely and the drink was nice too! The restaurant has a very intimate environment but still enough seating that I didn't have to wait to eat. I dined alone but I think it’s great space to go with friends too

Super nice okonomiyaki and beverages, too bad I didn't have time to return to try the omurice as well. Staff is friendly, very eager to overcome the possible language barriers. Would come again once I'm in Fukuoka again.

Went there for dinner and we love the yummy food and interesting drinks! The chef is friendly and knew that we'd love to take photo first before cutting our Tepanyaki into pieces. They also offer English menu for overseas visitors, which is very nice. Young staff can speak fine English too. Friend told us they're famous for omelette, but it's only for lunch time. Next time then!

Managed to get a seat walk in on a week night. Was hoping to order the omurice but was told that it was only for lunch. Nonetheless, the food is great, and the staff is fantastic with fluent English. They even gave us a hand warmer after we left the place. As we were sitting right next to the hot plate, it was a bit too hot even if it was winter. It was the only place that we across in Japan that required patrons to order 1 drink each and 440 yen for an entree, but tbh, we were going to order them anyway.

This is a hidden gem in the happening place of Tenjin. Highly recommmded. Do book ahead as the seating area is limited. Every dish that is ordered tastes really good. Cozy and comfortable environment. The okonomiyaki which is their most popular dish is a must!

Wonderful experience! This local small teppanyaki bar has a great atmosphere and amazing food. The food quality and taste was definitely among the top picks during our Japan travel. Reservation process is made very easy through google directly and especially foreigners do not need to deal with Japanese reservation pages. We reserved for the same evening, reservation is recommended since the restaurant does not offer so many seats and was busy most of the time. We had the full menu for two people and it was an amazing choice. Highly recommended!
